2. Cayman Cookout – January
Sometimes that image of just laying on the beach while torquise waters caress the white sand in front of you is hard to shake. I mean, who doesn’t want a beautiful beach vacation? 3. Salon du Chocolat – Oct-Nov
If you’re a chocolate lover there’s only one festival that becomes a “must see”. The Salon du Choclaat is the world’s largest event dedicated to chocolate and cocoa. With the biggest names in chocolate and pastry, chocolate fashion show, live demo’s, pastry workshops and prestigious competitions the Salon du Chocolat has something for everyone. 4. Pizza Festival – June
Traveling to the ancient city if Naples allows one to see incredible art and architecture all on the backdrop of the beautiful Mediterranean sea. Naples also hosts the Napoli Pizza Village festival, the largest pizza celebration in the world. 5. White Truffle Festival – October-November
Another Italian festival that draws a huge crowd each year is the White Truffle Festival held over 8 weeks in Alba. At the heart of the festival lies the white truffle market. Here, visitors can watch exhibitions and cooking shows as well as taste and buy wine, cheeses, pasta, desserts….. as well as taste the renowned white truffles.

6. Wildfoods Festival – March
For the more adventurous, the Wildfoods festival in New Zealand was created to celebrate all things wild from the west coast and exposing the pallet to something new. If your up for some excitement the festival has a menu consisting of huhu grubs, mountain oysters, duck heads, crocodile bites, fish eyes, scorpions, worms, deep fried pig ears, snails and a whole bunch of other interesting delicacies. If that’s a little too out there for you the festival also has gourmet foods like marinated tuna, smoked salmon, sausages and assorted game meats… but I mean you have to try a huhu grub at least once right?

7. Pahiyas Festival – May
In mid May Lucban, Quezon in the Phillipines hosts the one of the most vibrant and colorful festivals in the world. “Pahiyas” is all about giving thanks to a bountiful harvest and honoring the patron saint of farmers, San Isidro de Labrador. Elaborate decorations adorn homes in Lucban and exciting parades run through the streets and with food centered around the combination of sweet, sour and salty there’s sure to be something enjoyed by everyone.

8. Toronto Ribfest – June-July
Wet, dry, babyback, fall off the bone… ribs can be enjoyed so many ways. One of the best ways to get your fill is at Toronto’s Ribfest. Held over the Canada day long weekend (June 29-July 2nd) Ribfest holds host to a wide variety of vendors making some mouth watering food as well as live music a midway and a kid zone. Plus 100% of the proceeds go back into the community as well as select programs.

9. La Tomatia – August
The summer time holds hosts to a wide variety of food festivals but one one of the most exciting and famous is La Tomatina held in the town of Bunhol Spain. Now it’s not a food festival in the sense that there’s different dishes or cooking demonstrations, its more of a straight up food fight. Like any food fight it has to begin somehow and this one begins fairly traditionally, once one brave soul has climbed a two story greased up wooden pole and reached what is the coveted ham on top (yup fairly standard) the fight begins. Over 100 metric tons of tomatoes are thrown over the course of an hour, making this one messy event. Be sure to buy tickets as you can no longer enter this festival without one.

10. Maine Lobster Festival – August
If you’re craving some seafood, the lobster festival is held over the course of 5 days at the beginning of August in the beautiful state of Maine. Not only a celebration of the tasty crustacean, a wide variety of seafood is on display as well as parades, a carnival and wine tasting events.
